William G. Moore wrote a reminiscence of his grandfather, James McClurg, in 1916. Moore, a physician in Cleveland, Ohio at the time, later moved to the family’s ancestral home, the McClurg Mansion in Westfield.

Note the detail with which Moore describes his grandfather’s efforts to contribute to the prosperity of Westfield and, by extension, the Chautauqua region.
